DS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, May 7, 1958. Document concerning the finances for “the worldwide dramatic rights to the life and story of…Fleet Admiral William F. Halsey.” Neatly signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by James Cagney and Robert Montgomery. In fine condition, with an ink blot just before Cagney’s nice full signature. Accompanied by an unsigned photo of the actors with the admiral. This document relates to the resulted in the 1960 docudrama The Gallant Hours, which chronicled Halsey’s efforts in fighting against Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto and the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Guadalcanal campaign of World War II. Directed and narrated by Montgomery, the film starred Cagney as the revered admiral. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
