Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 15.75 x 19.25, December 20, 1876. President Grant appoints Charles Morton as “First Lieutenant in the Third Regiment of Cavalry in the service of the United States.” Signed at the conclusion by Grant, and countersigned by Secretary of War James D. Cameron. Dark blue embossed seal affixed to upper left remains creased but intact. Archivally matted and framed with an engraved portrait of Grant bearing a facsimile signature to an overall size of 32.75 x 28.25. In fine condition. Oversized. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
