Ruth Plumly Thompson

Children’s writer (1891–1976) best known for her stories set in Oz. Letter and poem sent to an American serviceman during World War II: an ALS signed “R. P. T.,” one page, 8.5 x 11, The Royal Historian of Oz letterhead, no date, in full: “Appreciate your note and good wishes. You sea going Yanks deserve a large order of thanks. Here’s mine. Yours for peace, and plenty of it!”; and a handwritten poem on a 5.5 x 4.5 album page, “Ahoy! And here’s cheer ’nuff to last a whole year, And Boy! Are we proud of you fellows back here! Yours with many gay wishes, Ruth Plumly Thompson, and say, thanks for the Victory!” In overall fine condition, with some light creasing and wrinkling to the letter. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
