A section of one of Grey’s diaries, five pages on three sheets, 6 x 9.5, chronicling May 3 to June 7, 1928. Grey describes numerous hikes at length and mentions beginning a new book. In part: “This morning I got up early, dressed in heavy clothes, and started up the mountain road, the first time in three years…A golden eagle soared over me, close enough for me to see his speckled breast…Yesterday I started another novel, the third since last Oct. Arizona Ames. It is easy and thrilling to write. I get a strange ecstasy about the creation of characters and the expression of my feeling for places.” In overall fine condition.
