Appealing collection of 53 vintage matte-finish and glossy photos, the majority approximately 8 x 10, individually signed by a variety of 1940s era entertainers, actors, actresses, and band performers, with each inscribed to “Millie.” Signers include: Sophie Tucker, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Jane Withers, Rudy Vallee, Paul Whiteman, Patty Andrews, Maxene Andrews, Ben Blue, Hugh Herbert, Merwyn Bogue, Jimmy Dorsey, Harriet Hilliard, Horace Heidt, Connie Boswell, Lola Lane, El Brendel, Ben Bernie, and others. In overall very good to fine condition, with scattered creases, and light staining to the right borders of about half of the photos. Consignor notes that her mother, Emily Grous Hollister, nicknamed ‘Millie,’ obtained the signatures while working as a concierge to the stars at Hartford, Connecticut’s State Theatre during the late 1930s and early 1940s.
