Description

Don Peterson

Three items: a fantastic ALS, four pages, lightly lined, no date, in part: “Part of the success of the space program is based on overcoming problems; all kinds of problems. Outer space is not a friendly environment, indeed a man or woman cannot survive for more than a few seconds if he or she is actually exposed to space. Human beings are simply not suited for living or working in space. But, we do it!…Now, I’ve never had to facet the kind of problem you must face, but I would guess that sometimes you must feel like we feel. You have to depend on ‘gadgets’ like medicine and braces, and you must trust a lot of other people that you know are not in your situation. They, like our engineers and doctors are trying to help, but sometimes you doubt that ‘they really understand your problem.’ We feel that way too sometimes.” Peterson signs his name again after a brief postscript, “Hope you enjoy the pictures, Don.” Included are the referenced pictures: two official color 8 x 10 NASA lithographs, one showing two astronauts working on the STS–6 Challenger, and the other of Peterson posing in his flight suit, both signed and inscribed in black felt tip to “Kathy.” In overall fine condition. Pre-certified Zarelli Space Authentication.
