Description

Queen consort of France (1573-1642) as the second wife of King Henry IV of France; she herself was a member of the wealthy and powerful House of Medici. Vellum manuscript DS in French, signed "Marie," one page, 18 x 12, July 1626. Untranslated appointment for a chaplain, crisply signed in the center by Marie and countersigned by her secretary Claude Bouthillier. The white paper seal affixed to the lower right remains intact. In fine condition, with expected document wear and light soiling.
