Conical, round base projectile for the 2.9″ Ordnance Rifle that measures 6.75” in length and has a weight of 6 pounds, 14 ounces. According to the hand-painted label on the side of the shell, it was dug at Port Hudson, Louisiana. The exterior of the shell has a pockmarked, dark brown patina interspersed with lighter brown throughout, and has a rough texture with a vacant fuze socket at the nose (the interior of the shell is empty). The lead driving band which originally encircled the tapered waist is no longer present.
