Conical 20-pounder projectile that measures just under 9″ in length and has a weight of 13 pounds, 11 ounces. According to the old, hand-painted label on the side of the shell, it was dug at the Fair Oaks Battlefield in Virginia. The exterior of the shell has a dark brown patina throughout with a rough texture and vacant nose (the interior of the shell is empty as well). There are some fairly transverse cuts in the side wall of the shell opposite the painted label. The metal base skirt is deformed, but the shell is attractive and has a pleasant relic appearance that would make it a nice piece for display.
