King William IV

Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “William R,” one page, 16 x 12, December 1, 1830. The king appoints John Granby Clay “to be Lieutenant General in Our Army.” Signed in the upper left by King William and countersigned in the lower right by the future prime minister Lord Melbourne, “Melbourne.” The crisply embossed white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains fully intact. In fine condition, with scattered soiling. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
