Three items signed by authors who incorporated animals into their work: a limited edition hardcover of Santana: The Hero Dog of France by Ernest Thompson Seton, numbered 40/500, signed and inscribed on the half-title page, “To Mrs. Helen Crane. This story of a noble dog—that I knew well in a brief spell—But whose history is bound to last for ages. The noblest Dog in France—The Savior of Verdun—With best wishes of the author, Ernest Thompson Seton, 30 May, 1945,” with the addition of a paw-print drawing beneath the signature; an LS by Robert Baden-Powell, signed “R. Baden-Powell,” declining an invitation; and a color print of the Cat in the Hat, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, “Hi, Chip Derr! Thanks for your great letter!
