Description

Wilson, George, and other Allied leaders converge during the Paris Peace Conference

Unique set of ink signatures on an off-white 9 x 12.25 folio sheet signed by several integral figures related to the Treaty of Versailles. Signers include: President Woodrow Wilson, Secretary of State Robert Lansing, Polish Prime Minister and composer Ignacy Jan Paderewski, British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, British Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour, South African Prime Ministers Jan Smuts and Louis Botha, British Secretary of State for War Alfred Milner [last name only], British Minister without Portfolio George Barnes, and US diplomat Edward M. House, who adds an inscription and date, “Paris, April 28, 1919.” Also signed on the reverse by French Marshall Ferdinand Foch, adding the date, “15.4.19.” In fine condition, with one horizontal fold near the bottom of the sheet. Highlighted by the presence of Wilson and George, two of the Allied Powers’ ‘Big Four,’ this is a remarkable assemblage of diplomats essential to the Paris Peace Conference and its subsequent war-dissolving treaties. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
