Description

Garbo manages trust accounts for her older brother

Scarce TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, June 22, 1964. Letter to the Chase Manhattan Bank, in part: “I am sending you herewith the following three savings bank account books which cover accounts in each bank in the name of Greta Garbo in Trust for Sven Gustafson…and request that you hold these books in safekeeping for me to be used for withdrawal of funds when my Regular checking account with you is overdrawn. I hereby authorize your bank to make two withdrawals out of each savings account, and enclose herewith two forms addressed to each of the above banks, which have been signed by me. You may withdraw half the balance in any one of these banks at a time as it becomes necessary to cover any debit in my Regular Account. Thank you very much for your kindness in handling this matter for me.” Includes a Seamen’s Bank for Savings passbook for an account kept by “Greta Garbo in trust for Sven Gustafson,” her brother, between January 1944 and April 1960, as well as a Chase Manhattan Bank transfer slip naming Garbo as the drawer, stamp-dated April 12, 1960. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
