Description

Jack McGurn

Key member of Al Capone's Chicago Outfit associated with planning the St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1902–1936). Two pearl-finish press photos: a 7.5 x 9.5 photo of McGurn from when he was questioned about the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, stamp-dated on the reverse February 28, 1929; and a dramatic 10 x 8 photo of McGurn lying dead on the floor after being murdered seven years later, stamp-dated February 17, 1934. Also includes a 1929 press photo of McGurn’s girlfriend Louise Rolfe, who became known as his ‘blonde alibi’ for the St. Valentine’s Day shooting when she claimed to have been at home with him all day. In overall very good to fine condition, with crazing, creasing, and numerous editorial touch-ups and notations.
