Egbert to “the rank of Captain by Brevet…for gallant services at the battle of North Anna, Virginia.” Signed at the conclusion by Johnson, and countersigned by Edwin M. Stanton as secretary of war. Blue paper seal affixed to upper left remains intact. In very good to fine condition, with scattered overall light tonight and scuffing.
