Cullen pens a ‘Revelation’

African-American poet (1903–1946) who came to prominence during the Harlem Renaissance. Autograph poem on an off-white 8 x 10.5 sheet entitled ‘Revelation,’ in full: “Pity me, I said; / But you cried, Pity you; / And suddenly I saw / Higher than my own grief grew. / I saw a tree of woe so tall, / So deeply boughed with grief, / That matched with it my bitter / plant / Was dwarfed into a leaf.” Permanently affixed to a same-size mount. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
