Description

Screen-used Ghostface mask from the box office horror smash Scream

Iconic screen-used Ghostface mask from Wes Craven’s 1996 horror film Scream. One of the most recognizable mask designs in the horror film canon, this remarkable production example is comprised of rubber, black fabric, and black mesh for the eye holes. Of the many masks made for the film, this particular version was used when Drew Barrymore was strangled in the opening scene, with that same same shot also superimposed over Principal Himbry's eye as he died later in the movie; this exact mask can also be seen in the documentary Still Screaming. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance, in full: “I certify that this is a genuine hero Ghostface mask from the film Scream. The fabric was removed by the prop department, for use on another mask. This mask was part of a lot of screen used masks obtained directly from the film’s property manager.” An incredible stage-used accessory from a film that not only reignited the teen-slasher phenomenon, but also inspired a whole new generation of trick-or-treaters.
