DS, five pages, 8.5 x 14, May 27, 1963. Contract between Vee Jay Records and El Tempos in which they agree "to record...commercially satisfactory 'master' records of the equivalent of Eight (8) record sides." Signed at the conclusion in ballpoint by William Gillison, Billy Taylor, Al Johnson, Willie Lowe, and Otis Toliver. In fine condition. In 1963 the El Tempos released 'My Dream Island,' which sold poorly; interestingly, however, Bunny Wailer recorded several successful cover versions of the tune under the title 'Dreamland.' Exemplars from this era are virtually nonexistent and, because the band has signed with their legal names, our third-party authenticators are unable to render an opinion. As this is a legal document we have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the item.
