Socialite, author, and wit (1864–1945) who was the wife of British Prime Minister H. H. Asquith. World War I–dated ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7.25, 10 Downing Street letterhead, March 19, 1915. Impassioned letter to Ignace Paderewski, in part: “This is such a terrible war. My heart is always beating & my brain on fire. I can’t tolerate the people who are not alive to it all…If God wd give me back my youth I wd fly to…give all my services, bones, brains, lungs & heart to the dying & fighting.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
