Founding Father of the United States (1730-1796) who is one of only five men to sign both the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution of the United States, and is the cousin to Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Washington City Canal lottery ticket, 3 x 2.25, issued as 12 quarter of No. 3051, signed “D. Carroll of Duon.” In full: “This ticket will entitle the Possesser to one Quarter Part of such Prize as may be drawn to it’s Number, in Lottery No. I. for cutting the Canal through the City of Washington to the Eastern–Branch Harbour.” Signed at the conclusion by Carroll. Ink notations on the reverse indicate a date of February 21, 1797. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
