Revolutionary War officer (1744–1825) who was wounded at the Battle of Bunker Hill; he is seen on the far right of the famous painting by John Trumbull entitled ‘The Death of General Warren at the Battle of Bunker's Hill, June 17, 1775.’ Revolutionary War–dated manuscript DS, signed “Tho’s Grosvenor Lieut. Capt. & Commdg. Officer of the 3d Reg,” one page, 7.25 x 3.5, January 5, 1781. Grosvenor certifies the service of one of his soldiers, in full: “I certify that Levi Hamlin did serve as a Soldier in the third Connecticut Regiment previous to/on the first of January 1780.” Includes the associated partly-printed pay table document signed by Hamlin with “his mark” confirming receipt of payment for his service, dated January 30, 1781.
