Description

Scarce handwritten arrangements by Zappa

Wonderful handwritten musical arrangements for the song ‘Music for Electric Violin and Low-Budget Orchestra,’ 9.5 x 12.5, four sets of adjoining two-page staved sheets, six pages of which bear extensive pencil notations in Zappa’s own hand. In fine condition. Consignor notes that the compositions derive from the collection of Marty Perellis, Zappa’s road manager during the early 1970s. The song ‘Music for Electric Violin and Low-Budget Orchestra’ was recorded for the 1970 album King Kong: Jean-Luc Ponty Plays the Music of Frank Zappa, a collaborative genre-bending homage by the French jazz fusion artist. Zappa later released a shorter version of the song on his 1978 album Studio Tan, under the name ‘Revised Music for Guitar & Low-Budget Orchestra.’ A rare and insightful peek into Zappa’s musical genius Pre-certified REAL.
