Erwin Neher

German biophysicist (born 1944) specializing in the field of cell physiology who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1991 for his discoveries concerning the function of single ion channels in cells. Handwritten manuscript by Neher, unsigned, 25 pages in a thin notebook, 8.25 x 11.75, no date. Draft of an article entitled “Explaining secretion control by patch-clamp techniques.” In part: “Secretory processes are most prominent among the diverse functions of living cells. They can be subdivided into constitutive secretion like that of antibodies, and regulated secretion, like the exocytosis of hormones, neurotransmitters and chemical mediators.” Includes an ALS in French, signed “E. Neher.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
