Description

Henry Clay

ALS signed “H. Clay,” one page, 7.25 x 9.5, May 8, 1829. Letter to “The Honble M. V. Buren.” In part: “The enclosed letter should have been addressed to you, as I have had no private transaction with Mr. Henry, who has drawn the bill…which I, therefore, conclude was founded upon some public disbursement or service. I have informed Mess. Bryant and Sturgis that the bill is forwarded to you, with whom I have requested them to correspond concerning it.” A browned leaf is affixed at the bottom and identified in pencil in another hand, “A leaf from Henry Clay’s Birthplace.” In very good condition, with mounting remnants to reverse, repaired tear to upper blank area, and trimmed edges. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
