Description

Scarce Pucci patch “carried to the surface of the Moon aboard the Lunar Module Falcon”

Flown embroidered Apollo 15 mission patch, 4″ in diameter, carried to the moon in the Apollo 15 Lunar Module Falcon, signed on the reverse in blue felt tip, “A-15 Surface, Dave Scott.” The extremely rare patch features “XV” embroidered in silver thread in the background, as well as the stylized initial “E” in black for designer Emilio Pucci. In fine condition, with the writing on the reverse difficult to read due to the texture. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Dave Scott, in part: “I hereby certify that the Apollo 15 patch (with silver ‘XV’) included with this letter was carried to the surface of the Moon aboard the Lunar Module Falcon ‘Falcon’ during Apollo 15, the first extended scientific exploration of the Moon, July 26-August 7, 1971…This special Apollo 15 patch (with silver ‘XV’) has been in my personal collection since returning to Earth.” Pre-certified Zarelli Space Authentication.
