American character actor (1902–1969) who was often typecast as a villain, earning himself the reputation as ‘Republic Pictures’ number one bad guy.’ Uncommon vintage glossy 10 x 8 photo of Barcroft as the villainous Martian from the 1945 serial The Purple Monster Strikes, crisply signed and inscribed in black ink, “To Jeannine, With Best Wishes—Roy Barcroft.” In very good to fine condition, with a crease to lower right corner and scattered surface impressions.
