Unsigned handwritten document, one page, 6 x 7.5, 1767. An itemized bill for work done by Benjamin Tirrillo on a boat belonging to William Price, penned entirely in Adams’s hand. He writes out sixteen lines of expenses incurred by Tirrillo, including “To a strap for the Stern and two long spikes,” “To Spikes & Deck Nails and a strap for mast,” “To working on your boat 10 days,” “To a journey to Boston,” and “To sixty feet Boards.” Adams adds up the figures for a total owed of £4.4.9. In fine condition, with tiny edge separations to vertical folds. By this time Adams was established as a well-respected lawyer in Boston and had recently emerged on the political stage as a leader of the opposition to the Stamp Act of 1765. A desirable, lengthy example from this sought-after founding father. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
