Description

Samuel Francis Smith

Beautifully penned AQS on an off-white 4.5 x 3.25 deckle-edge sheet, signed at the conclusion in ink, “S. F. Smith, Written in 1832, July 4, 1887.” Smith pens the four original verses of ‘America’ in their entirety, in part: “My country, ’tis of thee, / Sweet land of liberty, / Of thee I sing; / Land where my fathers died, / Land of the pilgrims’ pride, / From every mountain side, / Let freedom ring.” Matted and framed with an American flag and an engraved nameplate. In fine condition. Dated to America’s birth, this is a fittingly patriotic example. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
