Five items: a TLS from Edgar Rice Burroughs, signed “Burroughs,” personal letterhead, September 10, 1931, in part: “It was kind of you to say that you enjoy the Tarzan strips, because from the success of your own publication I realize that you are an excellent judge of what millions of readers enjoy”; an ink signature, “Rudyard Kipling,” on an off-white 4 x 2 card; a proof of one of Lindsay’s illustrations for his work The Village Improvement Parade on the reverse of an 8 x 5 Hartman Printing Company file card, signed as the recipient in pencil, “Vachel Lindsay,” dated December 3, 1931; a colophon removed from the 1929 Horace Liveright limited edition of Dynamo, numbered 427/775, 4.5 x 5, signed in fountain pen, “Eugene O’Neill”; and an ink signature of William Makepeace Thackeray, “Your very faithful Svt., W. M. Thackeray,” on an off-white 3.5 x 1.5 slip clipped from the close of a letter. In overall fine condition, with toned tape and trivial surface loss to the bottom edge of the Lindsay proof.
