American film director (1925–1984) known for his often poetic handling of violence in classic films like The Wild Bunch, Straw Dogs, and Cross of Iron. Ballpoint signature, “Sam Peckinpah, 15,” on a 4.75 x 2.25 clipped photo affixed to a larger photo of the director peering through a movie camera. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part: “Sam Peckinpah came to the studio in 1975 and had his whole team train Karate for his film ‘The Killer Elite’…I was one of the instructors for Robert Duvall.” Also accompanied by four images of the actors training at the Karate studio.
