Du Pont,” one page, 5.25 x 8, November 9, 1864. Letter to Admiral Porter, in part: “I believe Mr. Sawyer has already presented himself to you. It gives me pleasure however to say that I knew him well while I commanded the South Atl. Squadron, and that I always found him an intelligent gentleman, accurate in his reports, and ever desirous…in all matters connected with them.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
