Five items: an ALS from Henry Knox signed “H. Knox,” November 16, 1785, written by Knox while serving as secretary of war for the Continental Congress, in part: “Gave the necessary certificate to Mr. Gilchrist to enable him to settle the account. I imagine he must have received the money, as I made the arrangement with the treasury board for payment instantly”; two Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DSs signed by Oliver Ellsworth, dated January 7, 1777, and June 9, 1778, both are pay orders and are signed at the conclusion, “O. Ellsworth”; an endorsement signature from Robert Treat Paine, dated August 1769, signed at the conclusion of a manuscript legal document, “Paine”; and an endorsement signature from James Wilson on a partly-printed document, January 21, 1775, regarding a debt settlement between James Faries and James W. Lane, signed on the reverse, “Wilson.” In overall very good to fine condition, with mirroring to ink from a page no longer present on the Paine document, and overall writing just a shade light on the Knox letter.
