American military figure (1822–1866) who served as assistant adjutant general of the Union's Army of the Potomac during the Civil War. Three Civil War–dated DSs, signed “S. Williams,” each one page, 7.75 x 10, dated October–December 1861. Special Orders issued from the headquarters of the Army of the Potomac, including an assignment for recruiting service, the approval of a leave of absence, and the discharge of a sergeant major. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two additional documents from the same period not signed by Williams. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
