Letter to a gentleman, in part: “My mother’s nurse was obliged to go to England, so I took her place until just now another has arrived. (You know my mother is a helpless invalid!) So I have not been able to see you. Will you kindly translate to Mr. D’Urville the following—& I will be very grateful…1st. At that moment we learned there was a large terrarium in the rue de Paris. 2nd. I am free to dance there after July & perhaps by arrangement before. 3rd. Our first terrarium at the Park Alexander was for my representation impossible!” Partial separations to central vertical and horizontal folds (vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), a tape-repaired tear to second page, and some slight soiling and toning to edges, otherwise fine condition.
