Connecticut: Roger Sherman

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1721–1793) who was the only man to also sign the Articles of Association, the Articles of Confederation, and the US Constitution. ADS, signed “Roger Sherman Justice of Peace,” one page, 7.5 x 4.75, no date but circa 1757. Record of a meeting at which licenses for pubs were granted. In part: “At a meeting of the Civil Authority Selectmen Constables and Grand Jurors in the Town of New Milford…Messrs. Daniel Bostwick, David Noble, Joseph Waller, David Smith, Samuel Canfield, Justus Miles, and Nathan Hawley…were Nominated to keep Houses of Publick Entertainment in said New Milford for the Ensuing Year.” Central vertical and horizontal folds with tiny repaired edge separations and some light scattered toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned engraved portrait of Sherman. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
