Description

Richard Owen

English biologist and paleontologist (1804–1892) best known for interpreting fossils and coining the term ‘dinosaur.’ ALS signed “Rd. Owen,” one page, 4 x 4.5, May 30, no year. Letter to Professor Moore, in full: “Send any specimens of bones at any time which you may deem worthy of my time being occupied by the attempt to decipher.” Addressed on the reverse in an unknown hand. In very good condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through the first letter of the signature), trimmed edges, slight soiling, a tape-repaired tear to right edge, and some show-through from writing on reverse. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
