Original issue of The Scranton Tribune from August 15, 1945, folded to 16.5 x 11.5, with the headline, “Japs Give Up—War Is Over: Enemy Accepts Unconditional Terms; MacArthur Named to Govern Nation,” signed at the top in felt tip and ballpoint by four prominent World War II veterans, “‘Tex’ Hill, Sqd Ldr 2nd Sqd, AVG Flying Tiger,” “Paul Tibbets, Pilot, B29 Enola Gay to Hiroshima, 6 Aug 1945,” “Glenn H. Lane” (USS Arizona survivor), and “R. E. Cole, Copilot Crew #1.” Also includes an unsigned ‘Special Victory Edition’ of the Ephrata Ensign, August 14, 1945. Overall toning and brittleness, splits to folds, and chipping to edges, otherwise very good condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
