Having just recently graduated from West Point as the last-ranked student in the class of 1846, Pickett was sent south to participate in the Mexican-American War. Here he distinguished himself at the Battle of Chapultepec in September 1847 when he carried the American colors over the parapet to capture the Mexican fortress. He received a brevet promotion for his bravery and after the war was stationed at Jefferson Barracks for garrison duty. An exceptionally well-preserved example and one of the earliest Pickett autographs we have offered. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
