Italian-American racecar driving champion (1882–1956) and winner of the 1915 Indianapolis 500 who is estimated to have won nearly 2,000 races during his career. Scarce vintage glossy 7 x 4.75 photo of DePalma sitting in his No. ‘1’ racecar, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Joe Terrero, from, Ralph De Palma, May 26, 1924.” Reverse bears a Galligan and Hawthorne photography stamp. Last name and date a shade light, a missing lower right corner tip and wear to edges, and some creasing to top edge, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
