Description

Gummo Marx

One of the legendary Marx brothers (1892–1977) who worked with his brothers on the vaudeville circuit, but left acting when he was drafted into the US Army during World War I. Uncommon DS, signed on behalf of his brother, “Groucho Marx by Gummo Marx,” three pages, 8.5 x 15, July 11, 1957. Actors’ Equity Association agreement for Groucho to appear in the role of Ed Davis in the play Time for Elizabeth at the Theater by the Sea, Matunuck, Rhode Island, in August 1957. An additional rider specifies further terms in fifteen points, each of which is also initialed by Gummo. Expected document wear, a few edge tears, and toned tape to upper left corner, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
