American forger (1887-1950?) who forged letters from American luminaries. Joseph Cosey forgery of a document signed by Benjamin Franklin, one page, 9 x 8, September 2, 1787. Forged pay order to Treasurer David Rittenhouse. In part: “Pay to the Honourable Silas Hamilton, Esquire, Twenty Pounds and Five Shillings.” In very good condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds and heavy overall creasing. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
