ALS, one page both sides, 4 x 6, black-bordered personal letterhead, November 1, 1891. Letter to Mrs. Stannard, in part: “Thanks for the copy of ‘Golden Gates’ (I hope they are opening wide & wider!) with the amusing account of your interview with the P. O. C…the letter & book arrived safely however—they were from an American gentleman who wanted an autograph written in the latter.” In very good condition, with a tape-repaired tear to right edge, slight scattered creasing and foxing, and partial separations to spine and fold intersection; an unobtrusive tear to second integral page.
