TLS signed “Ike,” one page, 7 x 10.25, personal letterhead, July 22, 1963. Letter to his former Chief of Staff, Wilton B. Persons, in part: “Someone, I think it was Gerry Morgan, told me that you had an operation. This was disturbing news to me until he told me also that you were convalescing nicely and were getting better every day. He did not tell me what of the several organs they wacked out but perhaps when you feel again like indulging in some correspondence you might describe the whole affair. I even like the bloody details when someone is telling me about their ‘operation’ because this gives me an excuse to tell them all about my own.” In fine condition, with a few slight vertical bends to right side.
