Pioneer in abdominal surgery, obstetrics, and ophthalmology (1818–1897) who served as the royal surgeon to Queen Victoria and as president of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. ALS signed “T. Spencer Wells,” two pages both sides, 4.5 x 7, October 16, 1888. Letter to a gentleman to whom Wells writes a prescription, noting that the amount should be “one table spoonful with 3 oz of water…after meals twice a day.” First page bears a Lewis Wing stamp and ink notations in an unknown hand. Blindstamped in the upper right corner. Intersecting folds (affecting portions of the signature), scattered creasing, and trivial soiling, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
