ALS signed “O. W. Holmes,” two pages both sides, 4 x 6.75, May 17, 1853. Letter to Isaac W. Smith, in part: “I will with great pleasure assign the 16th of November for the Introductory Lecture at Manchester…only to the condition that I am in this vicinity as I expect to be. I usually return to Boston about the 20th of October.—In the meantime I have marked in my book—it is the first entry I have made for next season.” In fine condition, with slight show-through from writing to opposing sides and a circular area of toning from envelope stamp. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Holmes’s own hand. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
