TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Roosevelt & O’Connor letterhead, May 13, 1927. Letter to his attorney and close friend Julian Goldman, in full: “Your very nice letter was forwarded to me up here where I had to come very suddenly the end of last week on account of the death of my brother. I am so glad that you had such a successful time in Atlanta, but am sorry that you did not get a satisfactory location. I sincerely hope that you will soon find the right place and get started in the ‘Gateway of the South.’ After you left, Miss LeHand’s illness took a turn for the worse and we were a good deal worried about her last week. She is better however now. Eleanor was able to spend only one night there before returning with me. I am returning to Warm Springs, to get things finally settled, the end of next week, and Eleanor goes down to join me there a few days later. I will be in New York several days the early part of next week and will call you up and we will try to have a little talk either at the office or at my house.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), two tape-repaired tears (a central horizontal tear completely extending from left to right edge), a small tear to the body, and scattered creasing.
