Description

Ernest Ansermet

Swiss conductor (1883–1969) noted for his recordings with Decca. Handsome vintage matte-finish 5 x 7 portrait of Ansermet by the now-famous Philippe Halsman, affixed to its original 5.75 x 9 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in fountain pen, “To Miss Grace Denton, with kindest regards, E. Ansermet, 1936.” Notated below the image and stamped on the reverse with “Ph. Halsmann [sic]” and the address of his Paris studio. In very good condition, with dampstaining to the lower right corner affecting half of the signature and trimmed edges to the mount. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
