Portion of a handwritten manuscript, unsigned, one page, 8 x 1.75, no date. A section of Scott’s draft for the short story ‘My Aunt Margaret’s Mirror.’ In part: “My conversation with Aunt Margaret generally relates little either to the present or the future—for the passing day we possess as much as we require and we neither of us ask for more.” Identified in the left border in another hand, apparently that of his secretary George Huntly Gordon. Affixed to a slightly larger scrapbook page. In fine condition, with light soiling. ‘My Aunt Margaret's Mirror’ is one of three short stories by Scott that appeared in The Keepsake For 1829, a literary annual published for Christmas 1828.
