O’Brien, in full: “I inclose you copy of a letter I just sent Chairman Farley, which expresses my views in regard to a very important matter which may come up at the meeting of the Delegates to the National Convention, as I unfortunately will not be able to be at the meeting and want to let you know exactly how I feel about the matter. I am looking forward to seeing you on the train going out to San Francisco.” Roosevelt makes a single handwritten emendation to the salutation.
