Description

Archduke Ernest of Austria

Austrian prince as the son of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II and Maria of Spain who promoted the counterreformation while governing the Archduchy of Austria (1553–1595). Manuscript DS in German, one page both sides, 8.5 x 12.5, November 15, 1583. Untranslated document issued from Vienna. The official seal affixed to the reverse remains mostly intact with some paper loss. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered foxing, toning to edges, and a bit of paper loss to left edge. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
